Heroes of the Air 2026
Join us for Heroes of the Air at the RAF Museum Midlands – a family-friendly celebration of courage, adventure and the remarkable stories of those who took to the skies.
Step into history with our exciting Hero Trail, an interactive activity booklet designed to guide you through the museum. Explore our exhibitions, uncover inspiring stories, and put your detective skills to the test as you discover the answers hidden throughout the galleries. It’s the perfect way for young recruits and grown-up explorers alike to engage with the heroes of aviation past.
In our Bomber Command Exhibition, we’ll be screening the powerful BBC documentary series WWII: I Was There free of charge. Featuring first-hand accounts from those who lived through the Second World War, this moving series brings history vividly to life and offers a deeper understanding of the bravery and resilience of a generation.
Visitors will also have rare access aboard our iconic VC10, with the special opportunity to step into the cockpit, take a seat at the controls, and capture an unforgettable photo moment. It’s a unique chance to experience the view from the flight deck of this legendary aircraft.
Strike a pose at our free Selfie Station, where you can dress up, snap a photo, and become the hero of your own airborne adventure. Whether you see yourself as a daring pilot, a skilled navigator, or ground crew keeping operations running smoothly, there’s fun for the whole family.
Heroes of the Air is a day packed with discovery, inspiration and hands-on experiences — celebrating the people, stories and aircraft that shaped our skies.
